Group Therapy

Meetup

The purpose of the group is for members to gain a sense of belonging and acceptance and it is also a therapuetic way for people to be part of a group of other people who have the same experiences and it helps people see that what they are going through is universal and that they are not alone.

Group therapy also  helps to impart information because group members can help each other by sharing information and their strengths and help others in the group, which can boost, self-esteem and confidence. The group can act as a corrective recapitulation and is  like a family in some ways. Within the group, each member can explore how childhood experiences contributed to personality and behaviors. They can also learn to avoid behaviors that are destructive or unhelpful in real life.

Hencewith, it wil help develop socialization techniques because the group setting is a great place to practice new behaviors. The setting is safe and supportive, allowing group members to experiment without the fear of failure and imitate behavior where Individuals can model the behavior of other members of the group or observe and imitate the behavior of the therapist.

Therefore, Interpersonal learning can occur through group interaction and receiving feedback from the group and the therapist, each individual can gain a greater understanding of himself or herself. It  also encourages group cohesiveness because the group is united in a common goal of therapeutic healing and members gain a sense of belonging and acceptance

The group meets once a week on a Friday for 2  1/2 hrs per session and it costs £10.00 per person
